What is MMB

MMB is My Magic Box a dashboard for Agents from where they can manage their Leads, properties, messages, post property, and profile.

How it all started

In 2019 we conducted User research and usability testing for the entire Magicbricks site. We were divided into 4 teams of 4 designers in each team based on the user type.

It was a great opportunity for me as I was new to the platform and through the exercise, I would be able to learn a lot from it. I was allocated to the Agents team along with the other 3 designers

Questionnaire

Now to understand the Agent (users) we needed to conduct interviews. For that, we created a questionnaire. We divided it into sections and decided to keep it simple and short(1 Hour). We wanted to understand the
a) User behavior,
b) How they post property and
c) Use the dashboard and
d) if they use any other platform, then what they like and dislike in MB

Insights from Interviews

  1. Agents were using Dashboard either to edit properties or to download contacts. They were not doing anything apart from it.

No problem is The Big Problem

My Magic Box was built long ago and never been redesigned as per the latest design or UX trends. Over the years all the info just being added to the pages, making UI even more complicated and hard to scan. I realized that My Magic Box has so many features, banners, and sections but agents are not navigating through these and not using them.

I discussed this with Ashok who was leading the Agents segment at Magicbricks and then we noted down the problems and areas of improvement. After that, we created a wireframe to showcase how we are visualizing it.

A ray of Hope

Then we pitched the idea to our product head, he liked it and gave approval. A Product manager was assigned to it and the task was registered to Jira.

Business Objectives

  1. Drive/Guide Agent to post listings with good quality (verification, photos, good feedback, pricing, refresh, completion score)

User Objectives

  1. User should be able to see all relevant information easily.
    -Access Leads
    -Manage Properties
    -Get Guidance on how to improve responses on his properties (verification, photos, good feedback, pricing, refresh, completion score)
    -Get important announcements from the company

Challenges/Problems

  1. The existing design is way too cluttered.

Now the Task we had

The task was to redesign/relook MMB (dashboard for agents/builders) which was built long ago and never been redesigned as per the latest design or UX trends. Over the years all the info just being added to the pages, making UI even more complicated and hard to scan.

In most cases, the Users (agents and builders) align a sub-user to manage their MB account and properties.

Solution

  1. Make agents focus on listing quality (verification, photos, good feedback, pricing, refresh, completion score)

Post Design Phase

The designs looks much better than the previous one. Let’s wait for 2 months to check the analytics and its conversion to understand what worked and what did not. We have also organised calls and training sessions to educate the Agents as well. Hope it is useful for them and they will like it.
